Mbanza Kongo – At least 100 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on Saturday in Zaire Province, were repatriated by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) for having entered and stayed illegally in the country.
The spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, said that the illegal immigrants were repatriated at the Kimbumba river border post in the municipality of Soyo.
He explained that they had been rounded up in some of the outlying neighbourhoods of the city of Soyo, as part of the control and inspection of foreigners in an irregular migratory situation.
The official informed that of this group, 81 foreigners had been expelled by administrative decision and 19 by judicial action.
However, before their repatriation, these immigrants were being held in the detention centre for illegal aliens in Kavuge in the municipality of Soyo for legal proceedings.
