Dundo - The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Lunda-Norte, in coordination with the National Police, seized a total of 67 diamond stones on Monday in Xá-muteba and Cambulo municipalities for illegal possession and trafficking.
According to the SIC spokesperson, Graciano Lumanhe, the diamonds were in the possession of two foreign citizens of Malian nationality, aged 30 and 52.
The SIC spokesperson explained that the seizures followed a micro-operation at the Cassange Calucala police station (Xá-muteba) and inside a residence in the village of Nzage (Cambulo).
He added that the citizens will be referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office with a view to bringing the case before the Judge of Guarantee, while the diamonds will be handed over to the state diamond company ENDIAMA EP as a trustee.
Lumanhe emphasized that the operation aims to combat diamond mining, illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings and organs, fuel smuggling, among other crimes.JVL/HD/DAN
