Dundo - Fifty-seven diamond stones were seized over the weekend, in the municipality of Cambulo, Lunda-Norte Province, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), for illicit dealings (trafficking), the SIC spokesperson in Lunda-Norte, Graciano Lumanhe, informed Monday.
He highlighted that the diamonds were in the illegal possession of a 30 year old male Angolan citizen.
The police officer said that the alleged criminal was caught by SIC when he was selling the diamonds illicitly, during an ongoing operation in the province that aims to carry out a fierce fight against the digging of the strategic mineral, fuel smuggling, illegal immigration and related crimes.
Graciano Lumanhe highlighted that the suspect will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office, for subsequent steps, and the diamonds will be delivered to National Diamond Company of Angola (ENDIAMA E.P), as faithful custodian.
