Dundo - The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Lunda-Norte, seized on Wednesday, 438 diamond stones of various carats in the municipality of Xá-muteba, for possession and illegal trafficking.
According to the spokesman for the SIC in Lunda-Norte, Graciano Lumanhe, the seizure of the diamonds, in the possession of a 29-year-old Angolan citizen, took place on the public road, precisely on the bridge over the Lui River, on the border between the provinces of Lunda-Norte and Malanje.
He added that the alleged trafficker intended to reach the province of Malanje and later the country's capital, Luanda, where he intended to sell the mineral.
He said that the seizure and detention was possible through Criminal Intelligence work carried out in coordination with the National Police, as part of the fight against the focuses of mining of the strategic mineral.
Also today, he continued, a total of 375 liters of gasoline-type fuel were seized in the municipality of Chitato, whose destination was the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), for smuggling purposes, through the border of Chissanda.
He said that the product, stored in 15 drums, with a capacity of 25 liters each, was seized on the public road, precisely on the runway of the old Airport, in the Camatundo neighborhood, where the alleged smuggler was also arrested.
The seized diamonds and fuel will be delivered to ENDIAMA EP, and the General Tax Administration, respectively, as faithful depositaries.
The alleged perpetrators of the crimes will be referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office, for the formalization of the accusation. JVL/HD/DOJ
