Lubango - The Court decision in the criminal case involving the former municipal administrator of Humpata, Huíla province, Paula Nassone, will be handed down on March 4th by the Lubango Court, ANGOP learned on Friday from an official source.
The case was judged by judge Anacleto Kavonguelwa Kambuta four months ago.
The defendant was accused of crimes of influence peddling, embezzlement, improper receipt of values and violation of the rules for implementing the plan and budget, carried out from 2014 to 2018, according to the Attorney General Office.
The criminal proceedings triggered in July 2018, due to the fact that the company OVC, owned by the defendant Avelino Guilherme, his comrade, proceeded with the construction of a school with seven classrooms without the act having been submitted to a public tender, taking into account the value of the project, valued at more than 40 million kwanzas ($48.02k), paid in full.
The trial began in October 2023, with four hearing sessions, in which evidence was produced and discussed for the material discovery of the facts that affect the former administrator of Humpata.
In the last session, the Public Prosecutor's Office asked the Lubango District Court to acquit Paula Nassone and the other six defendants, due to insufficient evidence.
For the Public Prosecutor's Office, during the investigation of the case, “no evidence was produced in the true sense of the word to convict them”. BP/MS/CF/DOJ
