Luanda - The national director for Human rights, Yanik Bernardo, Wednesday in Luanda, defended the need to institutionalize a procedure for denouncing and following up cases of human rights violations in all the regions of Angola.
Speaking at the closing of the Forum of Local Human Rights Committees, the official said there are a number of complaints, depending on the specific nature of each province and locality, which need to be mapped for solutions to be presented by local committees.
Yanik Bernardo spoke of the need for continued work to educate communities regarding human rights, due to the considerable lack of knowledge of the main rules on the subject and strengthening the complaints system.
The forum was the culmination of the provincial conferences held all over the country, Bernardo said, underlining that it served to reflect on the role of the committees in terms of human rights.
The two-day meeting held in Luanda, analyzed the degree of implementation of the National Strategy on Human Rights, bringing together 18 delegates of justice and human rights and members of civil society. ANM/VC/AMP
