Luanda - The youth agenda at the United Nations dominated the meeting on Wednesday between Angola's permanent representative to the organization, Francisco da Cruz, and the assistant to the Secretary-General, Felipe Paullier.
On the occasion, Felipe Paullier addressed the actions they have developed within the scope of the implementation of the recommendations of the Pact of the Future and internal reform, taking into account the process of rejuvenation of the workforce at the UN.
Felipe Paullier made it known that the UN Youth Office has several plans on the agenda, with emphasis on actions aimed at implementing the Youth Agenda for Peace and Security, as part of the Strategy.
He added that the Office he heads is also committed to working for the revision of the resolution on Interns, who do not receive a financial contribution.
In response, Ambassador Francisco José da Cruz expressed Angola's support for the work that has been carried out and expressed interest in cooperating with the Office to advance the youth agenda.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced on 27 October 2023 the appointment of Felipe Paullier of Uruguay as the first Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs.
The UN Youth Office was established by the General Assembly to lead the way in advancing issues related to this fringe of society, promoting its meaningful, inclusive and effective engagement.
