Mbanza-Kongo – A total of 168 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were repatriated, in recent days, by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in the province of Zaire, for illegal entry and stay in Angola.
The spokesperson for the national police in Zaire, Lieutenant Luís Bernardo, stated to the press today that the aforementioned illegal immigrants were questioned and arrested in the municipalities of Mbanza-Kongo, Soyo, Cuimba, Nzeto, Tomboco and Nóqui.
He clarified that they were detained as part of migratory control and inspection actions in the region.
The repatriation took place at the Luvo, Nóqui, Buela and Kimbumba border posts.
The northern province of Zaire shares a 310 km border with the Central Congo region (DRC).
Every week, hundreds of foreign citizens, especially from the DRC, are detained by the border and migration authorities of the province of Zaire, for illegally entering and staying in the national territory.
