Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, granted an audience to the Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, on Friday in Luanda, where the parts addressed aspects related to bilateral cooperation in political, economic, diplomatic and commercial fields.
The Cuban leader has been in Luanda since Thursday, in compliance with a 72-hour official visit to Angola, as part of the strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation between the Angolan and Cuban governments.
Approached by the press after the meeting, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who heads a delegation made up of several members of the Cuban government, stressed the importance of relations between the two countries, and expressed the willingness of the Cuban authorities to increasingly strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation in the sectors of trade, health, education and agriculture.
'The two countries have the potential to achieve high-level cooperation with reciprocal interests and advantages,' he said. Relations between Angola and Cuba are based on a deep friendship and cooperation, since the struggle for Angola's independence in the 1970s.
Beginning in the mid-1970s, Cuba played a key role in providing military, technical, and humanitarian support to Angola, which resulted in a strong political and military alliance between the two countries.
In the post-war period, relations between Angola and Cuba continued to flourish, evolving into more diversified cooperation in the most varied fields.
