Luanda - Angolan diplomat Margarida Izata reiterated Tuesday Oct 8, in Geneva (Switzerland), the importance of international cooperation, in order to preserve human rights and reduce negative narratives, which could compromise the success of the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva made these statements within the framework of the 57th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), which examined the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
On the occasion, she assured that, at a bilateral level, the two countries (Angola and DRC) have always sought concerted resolutions to respond to the concerns of populations on both sides of the borders.
She added that this happens not only within the framework of the Joint Bilateral Defense and Security Commission, but also through permanent dialogue, in order to find solutions to any misunderstandings that may occur in the humanitarian, migration or commercial sectors.
The diplomat also greeted the DRC minister of Human Rights, Chantal Chambu Mwavita, and took the opportunity to thank the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, for the report on the activities of the joint office.
This report, she adds, gives an overview of the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and, at the same time, shares a strategy for lasting and deserved peace and security in the country.
