Ondjiva - The King of Ombala Ya Nalueque, Mário Shatipamba, on Tuesday in the southern Cunene Province, appealed to the competitors of the general elections held on 24 August to pass on the message of acceptance of the results expressed in the ballot boxes.
Speaking to ANGOP, the ruler of Ombala Ya Nalueque, in Ombadja Municipality, said that the acceptance of the results is a sign of respect for the will of the people and will allow the normal functioning of the State bodies.
King Mário Shatipamba defended that it is fundamental that the feeling of Angolanness prevail over partisan interests.
The sovereign appealed to the serenity of the competing political forces, in order to avoid acts that threaten the spirit of peace and tranquillity.
On Monday (5), the Constitutional Court (TC) rejected UNITA´s injunction request.
This is an injunction request due to alleged irregularities during the national tabulation of the results of the general elections of 24 August.
According to the final data announced by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the MPLA won the elections with 51.17%, electing 124 MPs to the National Assembly (parliament), followed by UNITA which garnered 43.95% of the votes, thus gaining 90 parliamentary seats, while the FNLA, PRS and PHA parties elected 2 MPs each.
