Luanda - The King of Spain Felipe VI Wednesday expressed his recognition for the "good results" recorded in cleaning up Angola's public accounts, with focus on reducing inflation, stability of the balance of payments and stable external reserves.
The King of Spain told an Angola-Spain business meeting that Angola had experienced a very complicated economic period in recent years.
He said the country managed to overcome this period after it signed an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as part of the Macroeconomics Stabilisation Programme.
In this new context, the King went on, Angola can take advantage of re-launch its growth and strengthening its economic and social development.
In the presence of the President of Angola, João Lourenço, the King said that for these objectives they can play an important role, through business collaboration and financial support.
"We will also have the opportunity to listen to and learn of a large number of areas, in which Spain and Angola have been working together for years", said Felipe VI, pointing to sectors linked to electrical infrastructure, education, health, transport, geology, water treatment waters, fisheries, information technologies, tourism and industry.
In his view, Angola's National Development Plan identifies many of these areas as priorities, expressing confidence that Spanish companies can contribute with their experience and be of great use in generating the best results in the short, medium and long term.
“These elements, together with a close public-private collaboration, contribute to the generation of wealth and employment in our respective economies", he underlined.
According to the King of Spain, for Spanish companies, Angola has a transcendental role, despite its natural and challenging entry into the European and Mediterranean market.
"With this trip, we hope to consolidate existing bilateral cooperation and encourage Spanish companies that share their knowledge, capacity and technology for the benefit of all", he reiterated.
According to King Felipe VI, Angola has always been important to Spain, having recalled that, in 1975, they were one of the main countries to recognise the independence of this African country, which allowed cooperation in various areas, such as trade and economy.
