Luanda - The Minister of Territory Administration, Marcy Lopes, clarified that the unofficial electoral registration abroad will be done through the presentation of the Identity Card, in a process that foresees to register about 450.000 Angolans in the diaspora.
Speaking this Monday, in Cape Town, South Africa, during the launch of the unofficial electoral registration abroad, the minister urged Angolans in the diaspora to join the process, to be able to exercise their right to vote in the general elections scheduled for next August, in Angola.
Still In the same ceremony, the Angolan ambassador to South Africa, Filomena Delgado, advised Angolans without an Identity Card to go to the consulates close to their homes to process the document.
The Angolan diplomat in South Africa appealed for patriotic conscience and peaceful and exemplary participation in the process, which in the diaspora runs until March 31, 2022.
In Angola, the unofficial electoral registration started on 23 September and it is expected that, by March, more than 12 million citizens will be registered.
According to the law, the unofficial electoral registration, intended for citizens over 18 years , has national coverage and extends to the outside of the country.
Inside the country, the law establishes that the process takes place in the municipalities, urban districts, communes, neighborhoods and villages, while abroad it takes place in the diplomatic missions of Angola.
