Luanda - More than 50 recently appointed general officers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) on Tuesday, in Luanda Province, were promoted and sworn into new positions, during a ceremony held at the Army Command Headquarters.
The act was led by the minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, retired General João Ernesto dos Santos also known as "Liberdade", representing the Commander-in-Chief of the FAA, João Lourenço, who appointed them on the 27th of August this year.
"It is with the highest sense of mission and duty that, by delegation of powers from the Commander-in-Chief of the FAA, General João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, I preside over the Ceremony of Promotion and Inauguration of General Officers and Admirals, recently promoted for new military posts", he stressed.
He clarified that the appointment of the 66 cadres to carry out new functions was not mere chance, as it complied with the criteria enshrined in the Law of National Defense and the Angolan Armed Forces and Military Careers, therefore it must exercise a high sense of responsibility and discipline.
Among other individuals, the ceremony was attended by the secretaries of State of the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland (MINDENACVP), the Deputy Chief of Staff for Patriotic Education, the inspector general of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, as well as the commanders of the FAA branches namely Army, National Air Force and Angolan Navy, representatives of the head of the Military Intelligence and Security Service, the Military House of the President of the Republic and the national directors of MINDENACVP.
