Saurimo – The social reintegration of inmates, after serving their sentences, is one of the priorities of the Penitentiary Service in the province of Lunda-Sul, the provincial director of the body Joaquim Miguel said on Wednesday in Saurimo.
When speaking at the provincial event celebrating the 45th anniversary of the institutionalization of the Penitentiary Service, the official said that, in this sense, 79 inmates benefited from IT, metalwork and electricity courses, while 73 others were included in the academic acceleration process in modules I, II, III.
“These trainings are the result of a partnership between INEFOP and the Provincial Education Office. Likewise, 71 inmates are involved in projects such as agriculture, livestock farming, among other services, in order to guarantee their social insertion in society, which is one of our goals”, he highlighted.
Currently, the Penitentiary Service in Lunda-Sul controls 720 inmates, 291 of whom are convicted and 190 detained.
The celebrations of the 45th anniversary of the Penitentiary Service took place under the motto “Penitentiary Service, 45 years strengthening rehabilitation and social reintegration, promoting production with sustainable partnerships”.
The event was witnessed by members of the Government, members of the National Police and the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), ecclesiastical entities, traditional authorities, among other guests. JW/MCN/CF/DOJ
