Uíge - Kimbata land border between Angola’s northern Uíge province and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was re-opened Tuesday, after two years ineffective due to covid-19 pandemic.
The provincial governor of the northern Uíge province José Carvalho da Rocha highlighted the role of the freshly re-opened border in exchange of goods and bringing together the peoples from both countries.
He said that the move will bring mutual benefit for both peoples, requesting the two peoples sharing the border to come together and protect the common space to ensure lasting relationship.
“Let us take advantage of this opportunity to bring together our people and perform our businesses and thus get mutual benefit”, said the governor.
In turn, the representative of the governor of central Congo, Didier Ntiya considered the reopening of the border crucial for trade Exchange between the two people, whose gains will be reflected on the economies of both countries.
The reopening ceremony of the border check point, located in Kimbata, municipality of Maquela do Zombo, gathered governor of Uíge José Carvalho da Rocha and representative of the governor of Central Congo (DRC).
