Luanda - The prime minister and minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Christophe Pen'Apala, stated Monday that DRC maintains confidence in João Lourenço's mediation of the tension with Rwanda.
The official clarifies that the stance comes from President Félix Tshisekedi, as well as from the Congolese government and its people, adding that they are confident that it will be a successfull mediation.
Christophe Pen'Apala is in Luanda since early Monday in the framework of the assessment that is being made by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, with his counterparts of DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, and from Rwanda, Paul Kagame.
The DRC diplomat and vice-prime minister was received in a hearing granted by President João Lourenço, to whom he provided additional information on the process for the pacification of the situation between the DRC and Rwanda.
According to Christophe Pen'Apala, the mediation only ends when the crisis is over, for now, the crisis not yet finished, due tho that the work continues.
Talking to the press, the diplomat added also that the greatest wish is to see this work of the mediator completed with the end of the conflict so that the Angolan Head of State can get back to his work focusing himself on his countries internal affairs.
To him the mendiation is moving forward.
when questioned if there is will from both sides to put an end to the conflict, the official said that "as a battered country" they are the most interested in seeing it all end.
Christophe Pen'Apala revealed that they wish it all to end fast in order to develop DRC under the leadership of their president Félix Tshisekedi.
The Angolan statesman was in Rwanda on Friday (11) and Saturday (12) and held talks with his counterparts Paul Kagame and Félix Tshisekedi, following the rise of tension in the relations between the two neighbouring countries.
During the meeting with his counterparts, João Lourenço presented proposals to adapt the Luanda Peace Road Map to the new reality on the border between the two countries.
João Lourenço, who currently chairs the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), is also the African Union's (AU) mediator in the crisis between Rwanda and the DRC.
