Luanda - The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda reiterated their commitment to the Luanda process, a pacification mechanism in eastern DRC

The will was expressed during the 4th Ministerial meeting aimed at achieving effective peace in that region, held in Luanda, under Angola's mediation.

Angola's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António mediated the meeting, with the participation of the heads of diplomacy of the DRC, Théresé Wagner, and of Rwanda, Olivier Jean Nduhungirehe.

In this negotiating round, the parties welcomed the mediation efforts, aimed at harmonizing the points of view of the two delegations.

The meeting considered and approved the minutes of the 3rd Ministerial session, held on 20 and 21 August, and also considered the report of intelligence experts, met on 29 and 30 August, in Rubavu, Rwanda, with emphasis on the Plan Harmonized Neutralization of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) and the Disengagement of Forces, Lifting of Defensive Measures, by Rwanda.

Ministers were also informed about the results of the meeting between the Facilitation and the M23 Delegation, essentially dedicated to their adherence to the ceasefire that has been in force since August 4, 2024. ART/CF/DOJ
