Luanda – The East-Timor Head of State, José Manuel Ramos-Horta, this Monday visited the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, in Luanda, where he paid homage to Angola’s First President.
In the mausoleum, the Timorese statesman, who is paying an official visit to Angola, placed a wreath on the sarcophagus of Agostinho Neto and beheld the photographic exhibition on the spot in rememberance of the Angolan Nation’s founder.
Speaking to journalists, Ramos-Horta stressed that his visit to the memorial is one of the highpoints of his stay in Angola, for it enables him to “dip into the history” of Agostinho Neto and the lessons he left behind.
He deemed Agostinho Neto “a great Angolan, African and world leader, whose lessons have a big universality”.
The Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial is a monument built in homage to the First Head of State of Angola. Occupying an area of 18 hectares, It was unveiled in the year 2012.
