Madagascar Head of State calls parliamentarian support

Luanda – The President of the Democratic Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, called on Thursday, the Angolan parliamentarians, for support on bilateral cooperation initiatives, which in his opinion opens the path to future development.

The request came during the Malagasy President's speech, at the Solemn Plenary meeting on the occasion of his State visit to Angola, noting that the two countries had opened a new page of cooperation in the field of sustainable management of mineral resources and friendship.

For the statesman, “it is time to access the development long awaited by both peoples, thus strengthening the ties that unite the two countries, taking into account the spirit of African unity”.  

President Andry Rajoelina highlighted that Parliament plays a crucial role in a democratic State, through its direct representatives, as it is a place where the people express themselves continuously and the confrontation of ideas takes place, as well as where decisions are taken major political orientations of the country.

During his intervention, the Malagasy Head of State also summarized the current political state of his country, informing that recently concluded its legislative and presidential elections, complying with the democratic process that included the SADC oversight.

Regarding the continent's birthplace, Andry Rajoelina said it has an incomparable richness due to its cultural diversity and natural resources, thus calling for the need to transform Africa, as it is the solution and the future.

The President of Madagascar arrived in Luanda on Wednesday (July 31), for a 48-hour state visit, as part of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Ties between the two countries are considered excellent, with regular consultations at presidential, ministerial and technical levels, with a framework being created that allows relations to be further deepened in various areas with mutual support at both regional and continental levels.  ANM/SC/CF/DOJ
