Huambo – The secretary of the Social Renewal Party (PRS) in Huambo Province, António Soliya Selende, on Friday pointed to the institutionalization of local governments as the best way to tackle regional asymmetries, with focus on the promotion of development and good governance.
Speaking at the party’s yearend greetings ceremony, which brought together members of the its provincial committee, António Soliya Selende reiterated that local elections, alongside federalism, are part of PRS’s guiding principles, for it considers these mechanisms the best solution for good governance in Angola, from top to bottom.
He regretted the fact that the country is facing such a tough moment with the financial crisis, having appealed for budgetary reinforcement for the provinces.
António Soliya Selende also called for speedy conclusion of the undertakings that are part of the Integrated Plan of Intervention in the Municipalities (PIIM), as well as emphasized the need to reinforce hospitals and medical centres with medicines supplies.
The Social Renewal Party (PRS) was founded on 18 November 1990.
