Luanda - A football stadium with a probable capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 onlookers is to be built in Mbanza Congo city, with the necessary funds to be included in the next State Budget (OGE 2025).

The project follows the meeting that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held on Wednesday in Mbanza Congo with the Zaire government.

The province will receive another essential infrastructure for sport promotion, a multi-purpose pavilion to be built in Soyo city. The corresponding funds should also be included in the 2025 State Budget.

A new Soyo/Mbanza Congo road link, following a route that shortens the distance between the two cities, is also to be built, given its strategic importance, along with water supply systems for Soyo and Mussera is expected be implemented.

Following the meeting, the President of the Republic visited the construction site of the Zaire General Hospital.

About Zaire

Inhabited since the Paleolithic period, Zaire province is flat and bathed by rivers that make its land particularly fertile and facilitate communication.

With land and a climate favorable to cultivation of tropical products and animal husbandry, waters rich in fish, quality timber and beautiful and surprising scenery waiting to enchant visitors, Zaire depends above all on the exploitation of oil, the region's main resource.

With the election of the historic city center of Mbanza Congo as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the province now has a new attraction that could boost tourism.

Zaire is one of the 10 Angolan provinces with international borders (Democratic Republic of Congo). It covers 40,130 km2 and is home to around 500,000 inhabitants divided into six municipalities, namely Mbanza Congo, Cuimba, Noqui, Nzeto, Soyo and Tomboco.

The capital of Zaire is M'banza Congo, which was once the capital of the powerful Kingdom of Congo.VIC/ART/AMP
