The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, stated on Wednesday, in Luanda, that the 2023-2027 National Development Plan is focused on the impact of actions to develop human capital and raise food security level.
The Minister provided clarification at the Council of the Republic meeting, when addressing the vision and priorities of the Executive's strategy on the issue of food security in Angola and national production.
According to José Massano, the Executive's actions will allow access to a balanced diet, increase national production and employment, making the country less dependent on imports, and reduce social inequalities.
In the Minister of State's view, the development of a diversified and prosperous economy, with emphasis on the sectors of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, manufacturing industry, mineral resources and tourism, is one of the axes of the long-term strategy, “Angola 2050 ”.
In this context, he highlighted that the Executive has been implementing tangible actions for the development of the farming sector, as a driver to develop the economy and guarantee the country's food security.
On the other hand, he cited the Program for Strengthening Resilience and Food and Nutritional Security in Angola (FRESAN) which aims to contribute to the reduction of hunger, poverty, vulnerability, food and nutritional insecurity.
"To date, around 600 thousand people have benefited, in Cunene, Huíla and Namibe", he explained.
FRESAN has already benefited 1.6 million households with monetary social transfers and 32 thousand families provided with basic food baskets. AFL/VIC/CF/DOJ
