Luanda - The First Lady of the Republic of Angola, Ana Dias Lourenço, will participate in the II edition of the Global Academy of First Ladies, from 10 to 13 of this month, in New York City, United States of America.
According to a press release to which ANGOP had access, the activity, promoted by the Global Alliance of First Ladies in partnership with the Columbia University, in New York, and with OPDAD (Organization of African First Ladies for Development) will bring together about 50 participants.
The meeting aims to strengthen the role of First Ladies as catalysts for positive change and social transformation, supporting sustainable and high-impact development programs in the areas of health, education, gender equality, economic and climate change.
It also aims to strengthen leadership in health issues in a context of globalization, interaction with international partners with a view to mobilizing resources and the development of social responsibility activities of its offices.
The program includes a round table, in which the First Ladies will share experiences related to the challenges and opportunities, experienced at the national level and in the communities of their countries, contributing to a common goal of strengthening the promotion of gender equality, the empowerment of women, and the empowerment of women.
Women and socio-economic development
Since 2009, the Global Alliance has supported First Ladies and 150 senior leaders from the U.S., Latin America, Africa and Europe in their efforts to promote positive change in their communities and around the world.
