Addis Ababa – The Angolan First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, expressed confidence in a positive performance during her term as vice-president of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), in which she will continue the institution's programs.
In an interview with the Angolan press, on Monday, Feb 17, in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, Ana Dias Lourenço said that, together with the organization chair, Sierra Leone's First Lady, Fátima Maada Bio, with whom she has been dealing since 2018, they will do a good job, with the help of the other First Ladies, particularly the other members of the Steering Committee.
Regarding Angola, she said that she will continue the organization's work with the commitment of the Ngana Nzenza Foundation and the support of the Office of the First Lady, in order to contribute to solve issues in the country.
Regarding this weekend's OAFLAD meeting, she stated that important messages were transmitted from partners, international institutions, United Nations bodies, as well as formal communications from each of the First Ladies.
On the first day, she said, the documents governing the functioning of the organization were approved, particularly the strategic framework for the 2025-30 period, the 2024 secretariat report and the budget.
The situation of quotas and the electoral process was also reviewed, with the election of the Steering Committee, president and vice-president, she added, considering that “all objectives were achieved”.
Ana Dias Lourenço was elected on Saturday, Feb 15, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, OAFLAD vice-president, for the 2025-2027 term.
The election took place on the sidelines of the 38th Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government, which ended on Sunday and confirmed the Angola Statesman, João Lourenço, as leader of the continental organization.
