Chinguar - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, witnessed, on Thursday, the beginning of the harvest of wheat produced on a large scale at the Vinevala Farm, in the municipality of Chinguar, Bié province.
There are approximately 15,000 tons of wheat to be harvested from 5,080 hectares of land, compared to the 3,000 cultivated last season.
João Lourenço took the opportunity to take a guided tour of the farm where, in the previous agricultural season, more than 18 thousand tons of various products were produced, including wheat, corn, beans, soybeans, peas, tomatoes, pineapples and reindeer potato.
The President also visited the wheat-into-flour processing factory, also belonging to the Vinevala farm, with capacity to produce 60 tons/day.
It could fully start in September this year, although it has already been operating on an experimental basis since the end of the last quarter of 2023.
The unit is located on the premises of the Logistics and Distribution Center (CLOD) of the municipal headquarters of Chinguar.
Later this year, the Vinevala farm also hopes to place the pasta, bakery and seed processing factories to join the corn industry, already operating in this region of Bié.
By September this year, the farm expects to reach five thousand direct and indirect jobs, compared to nearly four thousand currently, judging by the increase in investment in the cultivation of wheat and other products. PLB/ART/DOJ
