Addis Ababa – The Angolan Head of State João Lourenço began his work agenda, in Addis Ababa, with two separate meetings, on Friday, with his South African counterpart and the president of the Commission of the African Union (AU).
No statements were made to the press at the end of the two meetings held a few hours after João Lourenço's arrival in the Ethiopian capital and before the start of work on an extraordinary summit on the DRC.
João Lourenço and his counterpart from South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, are also in Addis Ababa to participate in the 37th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, this weekend.
It is believed, therefore, that the meeting that João Lourenço held with the president of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, served to, among other matters, inform about the preparations for the continental organization's conference.
The extraordinary summit on the DRC, which kicked off in the early hours of Friday night, was called by the Angolan Head of State to discuss the relaunch of the peace process in the east of the country.
Heads of State and Government from 10 countries are attending the meeting, including Angola, South Africa, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Kenya. IZ/ADR/DOJ
