Luanda –The Head of State of France, Emmanuel Macron, on Friday in Luanda deemed balanced and reciprocal the economic and commercial partnership his country has with Angola, especially in the last five years.
Speaking to the press, in the end of a 24-hour visit to Angola, the French statesman said the two countries have been working for a more fruitful partnership in the sectors of education, higher education, research, agricultura, defence and maritime security, as well as in environment protection and sports.
To Emmanuel Macron, the Angola/France Business Forum held on the 02nd and 3rd of the present month, in Luanda, represents a new stage in the bilateral co-operation.
Situation in the DRC
The French Head of State hailed the efforts being made by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, in the search for solutions for peace and stability in the DR Congo.
“We had a deep discussion, and that gives hope in regard to the achievement of concrete results in the coming days, aiming for peace”, explained President Macron, who left the Angolan capital on Friday for his next destination (Congo Brazzavile) on his Africa tour agenda.
Emmanuel Macron noted that Angola has been playing a crucial role in southern Africa.
Co-operation Relations
Angola and France established diplomatic ties on February 17, 1976. The two countries also have cooperation relations in several areas.
Cooperation between the two countries recorded new developments after the official visit of President João Lourenço to France, on May, 28 2018.
Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, more than 70 French companies operate in Angola. Oil exports from Angola to France are around US$400 million.
France intends to change and deepen commercial ties with Angola, within the scope of Angola's ongoing economic diversification process.
Priorities include issues linked to industrialization, mainly in the fields of logistics, distribution and agribusiness.
