Luanda - The president of the Dominican Republic, Luís Abinader, on Friday in Santo Domingo, expressed his interest in visiting Angola to further strengthen the existing relations between the two countries.
According to a press release, he expressed this desire during a brief meeting with the Angolan Ambassador to that country, Maria Cândida Teixeira, moments after the Dominican statesman was sworn in for a second four-year term.
The diplomat, who represented Angola at the ceremony, alongside representatives from more than 90 countries, argued that cooperative relationships between the two States should be deepened through the implementation of mutually advantageous projects.
Recently, the first political consultation meeting was held in Santo Domingo, the Dominican capital, with the main objective of strengthening cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in areas of common interest.
At the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, from Angola, and the Institute of Higher Education for Diplomatic and Consular Training, from the Dominican Republic.
Furthermore, perspectives on the current international situation were addressed, including the crisis in Haiti.
Relations between the two countries were established in 2009, during a ceremony in New York city of the United States of America (USA).
The Dominican Republic is a country located in the center-east of Central America, in the Caribbean Sea and has an area of 48,442 square kilometers.
