Luanda – The presiding judge of the Supreme Court (TS), Joel Leonardo, on Wednesday in Brasilia met with the head of the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice (STJ) Maria Theresa Moura, with whom he discussed issues of mutual interest.
The Angolan magistrate is in the Brazilian capital to attend the International Forum Cortes em Conexão "Courts in Connection", and to participate in the Solemn Celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice.
The International Forum, which brings together experts from the international legal community, is made up of five panels, namely the use of Plain Language in the Justice System, International dialogues between Courts, the role of international courts of human rights in the preservation of the democracy, artificial intelligence in the Judiciary and the Protection of Personal Data.
A cooperation protocol has been in force since 2014 between the Supreme Court of Angola and the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil.
In 2023, Angola presented a proposal on the extension of this cooperation with the Federal Justice Council of the Federative Republic of Brazil, with a view to define and implement technical instruments to improve institutional, functional and procedural management.
