Luanda – The presiding judge of the Supreme Court (TS), Joel Leonardo, will take part in the International Forum on "Courts in Connection", which will be held from the 10th (Thursday) to the 11th of this month in the city of Brasilia, Brazil.
According to a press release, the forum's programme includes discussions on topics such as "Plain Language in Justice and Communication with Society", "International Human Rights Courts and the Preservation of Democracies", "Protection of Personal Data by the Judiciary", and "Artificial Intelligence in the Judiciary".
In Brasilia since Monday, Joel Leonardo who is also the president of the Superior Council of the Judicial Magistracy will, on the sidelines of the forum, take part in the Solemn Celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice (STJ), an event that will bring together various representatives of the international legal community.
This is the second time in a year that the official has made a working visit to Brazil.
In November 2023, Joel Leonardo took part in the 11th Forum of the Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories in Brasilia.
In the field of judicial exchange, a cooperation protocol between the Angolan Supreme Court and the Brazilian Supreme Court has been in force since 2014.
In 2023, Angola presented a proposal to extend this cooperation with the Federal Justice Council of the Federative Republic of Brazil, with a view to defining and implementing technical instruments for institutional and functional improvement and procedural management.
