Lisbon – Twenty Angolan magistrates concluded, this Monday in Lisbon, Portugal, the first Special Training Course for Judges.
The training lasted three months and took place at the Center for Judicial Studies.
When speaking at the closing session, the Supreme Court Chief Justice, Joel Leonardo, valued the training, saying that it raises the levels of speed and effectiveness of the justice system.
He considered the knowledge acquired a reinforcement of the legal cooperation in force for several years between Portugal and Angola, both at bilateral and at CPLP level.
For Joel Leonardo, the trainees learned solid and universal, technical and scientific knowledge, to provide competent and timely jurisdictional responses, suitable for the promotion of democracy and the constitution.
“It is our conviction that the knowledge obtained by our judges will allow us to create greater dynamics in resolving social and institutional issues”, he highlighted.
In turn, trainee Gabril Bunga said that the program was based on Angolan legislation, whose subjects were illuminated by the most up-to-date doctrines in the legal field and by the main international legal instruments to which Angola is a party.
“The knowledge acquired here is immeasurable, because it goes beyond any classic pedagogical parameterization or that of modern schools, due to its quality, depth, intensity and currentness”, he said.
The participants thanked the plenary session of the Superior Council of the Judiciary for the opportunity given to them to attend the first Special Course for Angola Judges.
Present at the event were the presiding judge of the Supreme Court of Justice of Portugal, João Cura Mariano, the Minister Counselor of the Angolan Embassy in Portugal, Henrique Assis, the director of the Center for Judicial Studies of Portugal, Fernando Vaz Ventura, among others.
