Luanda - The President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, recently appointed by the African Union (AU) as mediator in the conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is expected to arrive in Luanda on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Angolan presidency.
It adds that the Togolese statesman will meet with the chairman of the African Union, João Lourenço.
Faure Gnassingbé replaced João Lourenço, who left the mediation process to give priority to Angola's chairmanship of the African Union.
Angola has recognized the need to free itself from the responsibility of mediating this conflict in order to focus more on the general priorities set by the continental organization.
