Luanda - The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, left the Angolan capital this Wednesday, after a 48-hour working visit at the invitation of his counterpart, João Lourenço.
At 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, Salva Kiir Mayardit was bid farewell by the Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and other Angolan state personalities.
In Luanda, Salva Kiir Mayardit and João Lourenço addressed issues linked to the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Sudanese conflict.
The statesmen focussed, essentially, of the peace process in the DRC and the conflict in Sudan, taking into consideration President João Lourenço's role as mediator in the conflict between Rwanda and the DRC.
As East African Community's acting chairman, Salva Kiir Mayardit has responsibilities in the Nairobi process and mediates the conflict in Sudan.
Angola and South Sudan have excellent friendly and cooperative relations.
Both are part of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), an organization created in 1994 with the aim of resolving issues of peace and security in the area.
