Luanda - A parliamentary delegation from Zambia led by that country’s Parliament Speaker Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti visits Tuesday Angola to strengthen cooperation ties between the two nations of the Southern African Development Community.
ANGOP has learnt that during the four-day visit programme, the Zambian Speaker will hold a courtesy meeting with Angolan counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira, at the National Assembly, as well as talks and exchange of experiences between the two institutions.
The programme includes a guided visit to the Palace of the National Assembly, followed by an official lunch to be hosted by the Angolan Speaker.
The Zambian parliamentarians are scheduled to hold talks with 6 of the 10 specialised working committees of the National Assembly, namely the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, Defence, Security, Internal Order, Former Combatants and Homeland Veterans Committee, Foreign Relations, International Cooperation and Angolan Communities Abroad Committee, State Administration and Local Government Committee, Economy and Finance Committee, as well as the Health, Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology Committee.
Before returning, the representatives of the Zambian people will pay a visit to the Angola’s first president memorial, the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
In January, during the State Visit of the Zambia president to Angola, Hakainde Hichilema, the Angolan Speaker pledged to create all the conditions to, still this year, create the Angola and Zambia Parliamentary Friendship Group, as part of parliamentary diplomacy.
Carolina Cerqueira assured on the occasion that the National Assembly is available to work on the definition of a new strategy to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation with the Zambian Parliament.
The Speaker expressed the desire of the Angolan legislators to strengthen cooperation relations between the Parliaments of the two countries to exchange experiences and good practices "in the quest for the best solutions to solve the real problems of our peoples and countries".
