Mbanza Kongo - The leader of the ruling MPLA party João Lourenço arrived Friday in Mbanza Kongo, northern province of Zaire, to chair a political mass rally, as part of the pre-electoral campaign.
Accompanied by his wife, Ana Dias Lourenço, the MPLA leader was received by the party militants and members of the party’s women and youth organizations, OMA and JMPLA, at the local airport.
In the presence of the MPLA vice-president, Luísa Damião, the first provincial secretary of the party in Zaire, Pedro Makita Júlia, welcomed the President.
On Saturday (4), João Lourenço will preside over a mass political rally, in António Agostinho Neto square, ahead of the general elections of 24 August this year.
The province of Zaire comprises the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo (capital), Soyo, Nzeto, Cuimba, Noqui and Tomboco.
The President returns to the country's capital, Luanda, on Saturday afternoon.
