Luanda - The President of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera, expressed his appreciation to the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in light of the solidarity by the occurrence of the tropical cyclone Freddy in his country.
The Malawian Statesman expressed such feelings Thursday at the Lilongwe Presidential Palace during an audience that he granted to the non-resident ambassador of Angola to Malawi, Azevedo Xavier Francisco, at the end of his mandate.
The tropical cyclone Freddy left thousands of people displaced and destroyed important infrastructures of Malawi.
According to a press release from the Angolan Embassy in Malawi, during the audience, both officials reviewed matters related to bilateral cooperation, focusing on the implementation of investment projects in the areas of energy, transport and trade.
Angola and Malawi are working to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation, as well as to carry out joint projects of common interest.
Malawi is a Southern African country with about 11 million inhabitants. It is a member of Southern African Development Community (SADC) and its economy is based on agriculture and tourism, as important sources of revenue.
