Luanda - President João Lourenço on Thursday in Luanda met with his counterpart from the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, within the framework of strengthening friendly relations and bilateral cooperation.
The Congolese statesman, who has already left the country, arrived in the country's capital on Wednesday night.
At the end of the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, there were no statements to the press.
Authorities from both countries discuss good historical relations between Angola and the Republic of Congo, created during the struggle for national independence.
Bilateral cooperation focuses on several areas, with a focus on diplomacy, social reintegration, economics and also cultural aspects.
Regarding the multilateral field, the two countries expressed their desire to continue contributing to the implementation of the reform of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) so that together they can make the ideal of regional economic integration more effective, in favor of well-being and prosperity of the population.
The two countries are members of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
