Sumbe – President João Lourenço learnt on Tuesday about the Integrated Infrastructure Development Project for Sumbe city, Cuanza-Sul province.
According to the local governor, Mara Quiosa, the project, which is about 60 percent complete and expected to end in April 2025, includes 10,424 meters of rainwater drainage and 8,614 meters of wastewater drainage in the city.
It also includes 13.50 kilometers of groundwater control and the same number of street lighting extensions, 13 kilometers of sidewalks.
The Sumbe City Integrated Infrastructure Development Project is valued at 125.2 million US dollars and includes the construction of 1,816 homes to be built by the China Engineering Company (CHEC).
The homes comprise 1,260 two-bedroom homes and 560 three-bedroom homes, 386 of which are currently ready.
In order to ease traffic in Sumbe, the company OMATAPALO has been awarded the contract to build the new Sumbe road, a 38.2-kilometer stretch.
Construction of the Sumbe city ring road will end in July 2025. LC/SCK/TED/AMP
