Head of States dismisses and appoints general officers and admirals

Luanda - President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), João Lourenço, signed several decrees in which he promoted, dismissed and appointed general officers, admirals and superiors, as well as licensing others to retirement, for a limit of age.

Among the appointments, which appear in the Official Gazette to which ANGOP had access on Thursday, one of the highlights is that of General Dinis Segunda Lucama, for the position of Inspector General of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland. Previously lieutenant general was dismissed from the position of chief of the Army General Staff and promoted to the rank of general.

General Dinis Lucama will have Lieutenant General Manuel Jorge da Conceição as his deputy. The vacancy left as Chief of Staff of the Army was filled by Lieutenant General Francisco Ndala Cativa.

Abílio Nachingue Paquisi was dismissed from the position of deputy director of the Higher Military Technical Institute of the General Staff of the FAA and appointed national director of Industry and Military Equipment of the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland. Before his appointment, he was promoted from brigadier to lieutenant general.

Horácio António Neto was dismissed from the position of deputy director for the Aeronautical Authority of the National Directorate of the Aeronautical and Maritime Authority and appointed director of this body assigned to the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland. Previously, the brigadier was promoted to lieutenant general.

José Filomeno da Fonseca was appointed to the position of Deputy National Director for Defense Policy at the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, while Manuel Bento now holds the position of Deputy National Director for the Maritime Authority of the National Directorate of the Aeronautical and Maritime Authority of the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland.

Lieutenant General Ivo Manuel Mendes Jardim, until then director of the Military Judicial Police, was appointed to the position of deputy military prosecutor of the FAA. Lieutenant General António José Neto was dismissed from his position as commander of the Northern Military Region and appointed head of the Main Directorate of Operations of the General Staff of the FAA.

Lieutenant General Evaristo Domingos Meti was appointed to the position of Army inspector, while Lieutenant General Francisco José Carmelino dos Santos will perform similar functions in the National Air Force.

Promoted to the rank of vice admiral, the then rear admiral Augusto Alfredo Lourenço ceased to be deputy commander for Patriotic Education in the Northern Naval Region to exercise similar functions in the Angolan Navy.

Lieutenant General Amílcar David Etossi Eugénio was appointed commander of the Luanda Military Region.

The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) delegated powers to the Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland to grant ownership to the nominated entities.

Retirement

The Commander in Chief of the FAA licensed general officers and admirals Gouveia João de Sá Miranda, Henrique Futi, Paulo de Sousa Alves dos Santos, Agostinho Kamuango, Agostinho Tomás, Alexandre Nelito Maveco Buela, Alfredo Tyaunda, António Joaquim Fernandes, António Duarte Soares, António Mateus Júnior de Carvalho, António Nunes de Sousa Felício, Artur Jorge Gonçalves and Artur Valente de Oliveira from active military service until retirement, due to age limits.

Among others, general officers and admirals Augusto Ouro Alegria, Avelino Pronco, Casimiro Titino Franque, Domingos Filipe Quicongo, Fernando Amândio Mateus, Filomeno António Pereira, Gildo de Carvalho dos Santos, Hélder José Domingos, Jacinto Mbandua, João Baptista Costaião, Joaquim Mbeca França and José Adriano Paulino were also licensed to retirement.
