Luanda - The President of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, on Thursday highlighted the legacy of former Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, in the democratisation and stabilisation of Angola, after long years of fratricidal war.
José Eduardo dos Santos died last Friday (08/07) at the age of 79 in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain, due to illness.
In a message addressed to the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, Sahle-Work Zewde expressed his feeling of regret and reiterated that his country had lost a great friend, promoter of the relationship between the two states.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, bowed to the memory of Dos Santos who worked tirelessly for the progress and stability of Angola.
Diplomats from several countries and international organisations have paid tribute to former President José Eduardo dos Santos, at the Angolan diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa, where a book of condolences was opened.
