Luanda – The Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, congratulated all Angolan women on March 8, International Women's Day.
In a Message dedicated to the memorable date, Carolina Cerqueira highlighted the fact that women guarantee life "through their invisible work, whether in the education of children, as in the support of families and preservation of cultural values".
With that, she also highlighted the courage of women for the fact that every day "they give life and take care of the lives of many, building families and homes".
Hence, the 8th of March, in the view of the parliamentarian, is more than a fair tribute, it is “a strong way for all women to continue to be one of the fundamental pillars of society”.
She advocates, for this reason, that this contributes to moving the world and people forward in favour of development and a better society.
March 8 was officially created by the United Nations (UN) in 1977 as a date for reflection on women rights and duties.
