Luanda – This Monday in Luanda Province the Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, pointed to the need for institutional and social peace and parliamentary dialogue as fundamental elements for a mature democracy.
Speaking at the opening of the Parliamentary Year of the 5th Legislature, Carolina Cerqueira also called for the need to build a single and indivisible union, with the participation of all Angolans with a sense of individual and collective responsibility, to achieve the common good in favour of all.
To her, it is imperative to protect the rule of law, integrity, identity and national sovereignty.
She hopes that during the current legislature more work can be done in favour of the Angolan people and encouraged the Head of State to continue working on solidarity with families, as well as reducing social difficulties.
The solemn opening session of the Parliamentary Year 2023-2024 is being attended by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança Costa, magistrates, MPs, assistants to the Holder of Executive Power, diplomatic corps accredited in Angola, traditional authorities, among other guests.
Meanwhile, to recall that this will be the seventh time that the President will address the nation since taking office, and the second time in his second mandate.
