Luanda - The award ceremony of the National Human Rights Prize will take place in April 2023, according to the Secretary of State for Human Rights and Citizenship, Ana Celeste Januário.
At the launch of the 2nd Edition of the award, aimed to encourage social actors to deepen actions around human rights and citizenship, the official said that the applications must be sent by January 31, 2023.
“Candidacies must be sent to the email address premio@minjusdh.gov.ao”, said the Secretary of State, adding that the award consists of four categories.
These are the categories “Person of the Year”, “Research in Human Rights”, “Community and Humanitarian Actions”, as well as “Culture of Peace and Citizenship”.
The first category (Person of the Year) includes actions by individuals who stand out in the promotion, defence and protection of human rights and citizenship.
The second category (Research in human rights) aims to distinguish scientific studies, documentaries and other initiatives documented in any information and communication medium at the national level.
As for the third category (Community and humanitarian actions), it covers conducts and activities with vulnerable communities that deserve special attention, due to their impact on the quality of community life.
The last category (Culture of peace and citizenship) focuses on rewarding natural or legal persons of private or public law, who stand out in the fight against violence and in the promotion of a culture of peace.
Approved in 2020, through a Presidential Decree, the National Human Rights Award held the first edition of the event in 2021.
