Shandong – The Angolan Head of State João Lourenço visited four of the largest production units in the province of Shandong, People's Republic of China, as part of a program to attract investors.
João Lourenço has been in China since Thursday for a three-day official visit, initially learning about the workings of Qihe Biotech's edible mushroom cultivation base.
This is a high-tech company that works in research and development, production, sales and export, as well as technology demonstration.
The mushroom cultivation base has the capacity to produce around 100,000 kilograms/year in each of the greenhouses. The growing time in the substratum is around two to three months.
Later, the Angolan Head of State visited the Lutai Group, a supplier of cutting-edge clothing and fabrics, currently considered the largest producer of dyed-color fabrics in the world.
The factory, which mainly produces shirts, has four fabric lines and 20 sample colors.
João Lourenço also visited Xinhua Medical Instrument Co Ltd, which manufactures high-quality medical products, medicines and hospital supplies.
Angolan statesman learnt about the workings of each of the units and was open to the possibility of them exploring the Angolan market.
In response, Chinese companies have expressed interest in exploring the Angolan market to invest and help the country’s economic development.
Shandong is a province with a population of around 102 million people. It is the second largest in terms of population, behind Guangdong.
So far, with four decades of cooperation, the legal framework for cooperation between the two countries is based on a General Agreement that operates in a wide variety of areas of economic and social life.
China has a strong presence in Angola in the areas of staff training, such as the construction and equipping of the Integrated Technological Training Centre and the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, as well as scholarships for young Angolans.
China is Angola's biggest creditor, despite the government's efforts to reduce its debt.
Since 2007 Angola has been China's largest commercial partner in Africa, with a business volume that only in 2010 recorded a total of 24.8 billion US dollars.
According to the Chinese embassy in Angola, in 2022 the volume of trade between the two countries was more than 22 million US dollars, an increase of 26% in relation to previous year.
