Mbanza-Kongo – President João Lourenço confirmed on Wednesday, the progress of works on the General Hospital of Zaire, in the city of Mbanza-Kongo, which will have capacity for 290 beds, and will be inaugurated in August 2025.
In Zaire's capital, where the Angolan statesman worked for a few hours to find out about the political, economic and social situation in the province, he chaired a meeting with the local government, during which he came into contact with the detailed report on the socio-economic life of the province.
Launched in 2014, the work on the Mbanza-Kongo General Hospital is in its final phase and is expected to be completed in a couple months.
The hospital will be an imposing three-story building, with a budget valued at US$87.850.000,00.
The hospital unit will include intensive care services for adults, pediatrics and newborns, hemodialysis, rehabilitation, imaging, operating rooms, among others.
The infrastructure is located on the outskirts of the city of Mbanza-Kongo and occupies an area of 27k square meters.
Provincial health network
Currently, Zaire's health network consists of 118 units, including hospitals, centers and health posts.
With around 2,500 beds, the province also has 67 Provider-Initiated Counseling and Testing Centers (ATIP) or VHI/AIDS. JL/VIC/CF/DOJ
