Luanda - Angolan President João Lourenço left for a 48-hour state visit to France on Wednesday at the invitation of his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

According to the presidential press secretary, Luís Fernando, the visit will begin on Thursday at around 10 a.m., when João Lourenço will arrive at the Elysée Palace for the official welcome and due honors.

The Angolan Head of State is expected to go to the French National Assembly for a meeting with the President of the "House of Laws", Yael Braun-Pive.

In the evening, João Lourenço will return to the Presidential Palace for an official dinner, during which the two statesmen will address the audience.

The second and last day of the visit to France (Friday) will be dedicated to economic matters, such as the participation in the France-Angola Economic Forum, where various business opportunities, partnerships and other engagements will be explored.

Visits to economic targets, namely a waste-to-energy plant and the "City of Science and Industry in Paris" are also on the agenda.

President João Lourenço will return to Luanda next Saturday.

Angola and France have a partnership that covers several areas, notably the economy, energy, education and defense. VIC/AMP
