At the end of the meeting with the Angolan President, parliamentarian Portuguese said that during the meeting, among other issues, a brief approach was made about bilateral cooperation, stressing that 'relations are absolutely exceptional'.
He argued, recalling that throughout this year the three main figures of the country, namely, the President of the Republic, President of the Assembly and the Prime Minister, officially visited Angola.
He reiterated that relations are strengthened at all levels, and it is “known, public and notorious that the relationship between the two Presidents is very strong”, as well as with the head of the Portuguese Executive, António Costa.
Augusto Santos Silva, who is participating in the 147th Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU), highlighted the cooperation between the two parliaments, considering them to be also good, a fact reflected in the commemoration, in 2023, of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the agreement between both parliaments.
“The two assemblies have been cooperating for 20 years, and with regard to the issues of mobility, economy, politics and diplomacy, our relationship could not be better, and today we are perhaps experiencing the highest moment in many years of the relationship between Portugal and Angola,' he stressed.
In the chapter on multilateral relations, he praised Angola's 'excellent' presidency of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), which resulted in gains for all members. PA/VIC/VM/CF/DOJ
