Benguela - Angolan head of State João Lourenço left the coastal Benguela province on Wednesday afternoon after a few-hour visit to the region.
In Benguela, João Lourenço inaugurated two photovoltaic plants (solar energy) in the localities of Biópio and Baía Farta.
With 188.8 megawatts (MW), Biópio plant is sufficient to provide power to more than one million people. Biópio power plant - 509, 040 solar panels - is deemed the largest solar energy project in Angola.
The second solar power plant, built on the outskirts of the municipal village of Baía Farta, will benefit around half a million consumers. It is built on an area of 186 hectares and has 261, 360 solar modules.
At Catumbela airport, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, the Angolan Head of State received farewell greetings from the governor of Benguela, Luís Nunes, among other entities.
