Luanda - President João Lourenço recommended today in Luanda to the reappointed Board of Directors of the public oil company Sonangol the increase in oil and natural gas production, since Angola is no longer part of the Organization Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

According to President João Lourenço, a gas consortium was formed and changes were introduced to legislation to encourage gas production, so that Angola goes from being a major producer and exporter of oil to a major producer and exporter of natural gas.
To achieve this goal, continued the statesman, the sector has important infrastructures and others in the construction phase, such as the Lobito Refinery and the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal, which must be completed in a timely manner, as they are very important for the national economy.
On the other hand, João Lourenço also recommended Sonangol's transition from oil and gas producer to energy producer, as the planet is crying out for renewable energy sources.
To the sworn-in Secretaries of State the President wished a good performance in the roles for which they were appointed.
